It's Laser Hair Removal Season!

The season is among us again! From Fall - the early months of Spring …even summer depending on where you live, is laser hair removal season!

This is why jumping into a laser hair removal membership (LHR) is important early on.

If you are just reading this, there is still time for you to emerge in the summer months while bearing your skin, proud!

Why Wisdom and Youth?

At Connecticut’s premier medical spa in Westport, Wisdom and Youth MedSpa carries the best technologies on the market, including LHR systems.

What makes this system stand alone from all the others? The treatments typically take less than the average time than with other devices on the market. It is also virtually PAINLESS!! Why? Two reasons, there its a constantly chilled tip that is able to cool your skin AND there is a “in motion” mode, that makes the treatment much more tolerable and safe than any other treatments currently on the market!!

Things to Know

It is important to refrain from plucking, waxing, or electrolysis for 6 weeks prior to any LHR treatments. You CAN shave!

    • The laser is set to a targeted depth where it will search for pigmentation different than the surrounding melanin ( skin pigment ). If there is little or no melanin present, it will not know where the hair bulb/follicle is in order to destroy it.

It is important to shave within 24 hours of your LHR appointment

    • No need to walk around with hair! You can shave! The technology used in the LHR platform we have does not need redundant hair to know where the “root of the problem” is!

Please no tans or spray tans prior to your visit.

Not good for hair that is blonde, white, silver, or gray.

    • The laser is set to a targeted depth where it will search for pigmentation different than the surrounding melanin ( skin pigment ). If there is little or no difference between the skin pigment and the melanin found in the hair shaft follicles, it will not know what to target.

This LHR can and is SAFE for ALL skin colors!!

Avoid saunas, vigorous exercise, pools and hot tubs for 24 hours after your treatment,

    • This is because your hair follicles were just stimulated and still may retain heat from the laser. It is not uncommon to experience a little bit of itching after the treatments. For this, you can take Benadryl or an antihistamine.

    • 6-7 sessions are typically required.

    • Sessions are spaced 4-6 weeks apart, depending on the area.

    • You may require a touch-up every 2-3 years, but that depends on the hair growth.
